I have the contact information of everyone I care about, and they have mine. I’ve exported the birthday calendar (the only thing I really cared about) and now its a google calendar. I’d rather spend more of my time working and writing on this blog.

Now working from in Philly.

Now working from in Philly.

Photo

AZ to Nazi Comparisons

If you’re comparing illegal immigrants in the United States today with a legal jewish citizens in Germany in late 1930s you’re just as crazy as someone comparing Stalin to Obama.

Adobe should refocus their iPhone-deployment goal on the future of Flash:

Establish Flash (the tool) as the premier tool for creating rich HTML5 content, the same way Photoshop is the premier tool for image manipulation and Illustrator is the premier tool for vector drawing. Adobe is in the tools…

Totally. I think it’s easy to see Flash becoming the WYSIWYG tool for javascript effects/animation as well as AJAX experiences. Maybe Adobe can develop (or improve upon) an open js framework that is tightly integrated to Flash and then allow members of the community to build plugins for jQuery and Prototype effects frameworks. Add great HTML5 and CSS3 tools and you may have a real alternative to textmate.

One can dream. :)

A thing of beauty.

A thing of beauty.

I’ve been waiting for something like this.

I’ve been waiting for something like this.

Damn, Gizmodo.

marco:

Did that really add anything to the story?

You just took a dark time in this man’s life — caused only by his negligence, not malice — and made it much worse. For what reason? Did you make anyone’s lives better by having done that?

There are really only two “would likes” I have that would help development:

For convenience: A command to quickly switch between Heroku accounts (I can do this manually now by removing the keys and running a simple “heroku list” but this could definitely be condensed into one command).

For dealing with clients: Unified billing. Here’s an example: I’d like to be able to pay S3 thru Heroku. Many clients don’t understand Amazon’s S3 and their charges are almost always under a dollar. They have no idea what it’s there for or they forget. Storing a client’s billing info in Heroku and paying out services from there it would be great. Clients would get one unified bill. I’d happily pay a premium every month for a solution like that. (Off the top of my head I don’t know what other services I would use this for besides Amazon’s - which Heroku uses as well)

If you’re a lone developer using rails and aren’t using Heroku you need to start. It’s brilliant.

Srsly

Srsly

iAd Viewer for iPhone/iPad

Given the love for the iPhone and iPad, that most owners love showing off new features, and the fact that there are still a huge amount of non-owners I think the new iAds will be a source of pride for most owners.

I’d like to see free application that just goes from one ad to another. Convenient for advertisers (looking to build their own interactive ad), and iPhone owners that want to show off how much better their ads are then the static one on other phones.

Not sure Apple would allow it, but the app could even allow users to make money by viewing ads. Maybe add a PayPal link that kicks back 30% of the developers income based on views?

The new iAds have the potential to be as show-offable as apps themselves.

I love the Windows 7 ads on Dell’s site. Did you know...

I love the Windows 7 ads on Dell’s site. Did you know that Windows 7 lets you send your document to the right printer? How about connect to the company network?

We were the best and brightest. We were the kind of guys who, if they were running the biggest mobile network in the U.S., would say it’s not enough to be the biggest, we also want to be the best, and once they got to be the best, they’d say, How can we get even better? What can we do to be the best in the whole fucking world? What can we do that would blow people’s fucking minds? They wouldn’t have sat around wondering about ways to fuck over people who loved their product. But then something happened. Guys like you took over the phone company and all you cared about was milking profit and paying off assholes in Congress to fuck over anyone who came along with a better idea, because even though it might be great for consumers it would mean you and your lazy pals would have to get off your asses and start working again in order to keep up.”

-
Fake Steve Jobs FTW
